What I did on my end of summer vacation...
I have lived in the Austin area for 23 years and have never hit some major local attractions. This week X-man and I covered two of them - Barton Springs pool and Hamilton Pool (I know we still have Deep Eddy, Little Stacy Pool and Enchanted Rock - can y'all think of others?).
On kind of a fling we drove to Hamilton Pool last Tuesday. X and I trekked down the small hike (which btw seems less small on the way back up) and waded into the water. He loved the waterfall and can now pick it out in a Mary Doerr print hanging in our hallway (note - can't find the print on her website but love most of her Austin stuff). We went back on Friday and swam. We also walked around the grotto because X wanted to touch the waterfall. He was mad that I wouldn't let him sit under it without holding my hand. I tried to explain how easily his 30# would be thrown off the rocks but...you know. On a side note, we did enroll for swimming classes as the (very)local YMCA to start next Saturday. He will love it...and when he is no where in my sight can sit or stand under the waterfall without holding my hand! Hopefully he is 30 years old by then.
Tomorrow we will try for Barton Springs again - cold but lovely - and then go to Sinda and Jesse's for some Labour Day fajitas (see how I mixed the anglophilia with texmex? JK).
Check out my X-man pics. I like that he is more wiling to pose!
